Do I need to wash the jelly roll fabric before use?
How do I care for my quilt?
We recommend that you do NOT wash the jelly roll fabric before using it. It has been precisely cut for jelly roll patterns. If you wish, go ahead and wash your quilt once it is fully assembled so that any shrinkage will not compromise the final product.
Quilts are meant to be used and they get softer with age. If you’ve spilled something on your quilt, take action right away with a damp sponge and cool water. If absolutely necessary, wash it on the gentle cycle in your machine. Although fabrics are generally prewashed and shrunk, it’s best to use the cold cycle. I also like to throw in a colour catcher sheet (look for them in the laundry aisle at the grocery store). The quilt can then go in the dryer at medium temperature. Remove promptly. If your pet loves the quilt as much as you do, hang the quilt outside to give it a good airing every now and again and throw it in the dryer to remove pet hair. If you need to store your quilt for an extended period of time, avoid folding along seam lines; fold on the diagonal instead.
